    Hi,

I'm going to buy a forum license and really till now I'm not able to take the decision a bout xenforo or IPB or vB so what's your opinion guys a bout trying xenforo ?

My main question , can I use the main theme of xenforo but ( fixed ) not fluid ? , and can I change its colors ?, What's the best XF skins provider ?

and can I show description under the forum's name ? , without showing this black box ?

    Thanks a lot

xenForo comes with the main theme when you install it. It's very easy to make the theme fixed, instead of fluid by going into the style properties of each theme.

You can change the colour scheme of themes very easily by manipulating their colour palettes.

As for the best xf Skin provider, I am not sure but a good one with popular skins is xenFocus (http://www.xenfocus.com/)

    Hi there,

I have spent a decade being a professional forum theme designer predominately in the IPB world until I saw Xenforo - and I can say categorically that Xenforo is the easiest and the best to make themes or to change by far.

Very easy for even a newbie to change basic things like the width of the board (fixed or fluid). Colours are a walk in the park, with most being able to be changed via "Style Properties" which means you don't need to go into the CSS files - unless you want to.

Not sure what you mean by Description under the forum name, but a simple edit will probably do it. If you are referring to the Board Title above the forum list then it is easy enough to manually add a description in, however there is not a Description field in the ACP if that is what you mean.

You can even test the fixed width skin here, click down left at the style selector ;)

Oh I see, well there is a modification you can install to do that, or the Xenique framework that comes with our premium themes, has that as an option (other Theme providers might as well, I don't know for sure)

Thank you , do you know the name of this modification ? ,

Also,do you think xf is more better than IPB ?

    Thanks for your answers =)

You know I do believe I may have inadvertently mislead you, I thought you were referring to subforums, not sure why because you clearly said Descriptions.

Apologies, I was thinking Sub Forum listings for some reason, which there is an Add on, or is in our Framework! D'oh!

I am not aware of any mod to do Descriptions, but I am sure there is one, or if not it is possible to achieve.

At this point I will allow someone else to answer that.

Again I do apologise for getting that wrong.

In terms of which I like better, Xenforo hands down, no questions about it, it is so much better a User Experience, and for me so much better to theme for.

    :)

It's a checkbox in the Style Properties in the ACP - Enable Forum Descriptions Tooltips

I actually migrated from IPB this week(Skinbox.net makes the best IPB and even some of the best skins I've seen on any platform)

But anyway, I am a huge fan of Audentio's Xenforo skins as most of the skins are very fresh, fun and modern looking.

Brought his drift dark skin. I like the skins because unlike alot of skins that merely just look like the default skin, there is a uniqueness with audentio's designs(at least with his Drift and Quark skins)

Good to see you over here now, though I'm surprised you left IPB. ;)

you can do all of this with the standard XenForo-software.

Have a look at the many great videos in the "Have You Seen"-Forum here:

I have searched for the videos which relate to your questions:

Not to speak ill of IPboard as I am a huge fan of their work and software but i will say once i figured out how edit skins with xenforo, xenforo is actually much easier than Ipboard when it comes to designing your skin.
