1. did you bother to read the thread you are posting to? I guess not...
2. do you have any understanding what makes the price? obviously not.
3. did you realize that quite a number of people considered the price for this app between fair and cheap on this thread and did you think about why they came to this conclusion? obviously not.
4. How do you know that "most" run forums as a hobby?
5. Even if this was the case - how would this in any way connect to claim that the price would be "insane"?
6. Even if many could not afford it - is there a law that there should only add ons be allowed that everybody can afford? So basically only free addons? Addons that target professional or commercial users are not allowed?
Out of curiosity:
• What would you be willing to pay for a native App for iOS and Android with ongoing support including setup, onboarding, basic customizations and continuous further development?
• What exactly would you expect to get for the price you are willing to pay?
• Based on what criteria do you judge if the price is justified or not?
PS: You are not obliged to buy the add on but are always free to develop a native mobile app for XF yourself with the same or better features and offer it cheaply. If you are unable to do so you could pay someone that is qualified and sell the outcome here cheaply. What would you charge for that?
No it isn’t.
Would be interesting to see and I highly doubt that you woud do that sucessfully. Cost would be anywhere between maybe ~7.500$ and 80.000$, depending on how it is done and what your needs are - and this is just the initial developing cost. If you want much fancyness for very special need, fully hand crafted it could possibly even become more expensive. Ongoing maintenance, support and further development comes on top of that.If I were making of money from forums, I would be paying someone to make an app for my forum specifically, but won’t be buying someone’s else app. Because everyone’s needs is different.
An Apple developer account needed for that is about 100$/year. Google is free I think. If not it is possibly in the same ballpark. Does not matter anyway as for pracitcal reasons I'd rather assume that the app will be submitted via the account of the developer as anything else would bring no benefit but a lot of useless complexity.I believe you still have to pay to keep your app on AppStore.
I doubt would be that high. Are you building a Tesla here or what ?Would be interesting to see and I highly doubt that you woud do that sucessfully. Hard to believe someone who finds 100$/month insane would be willing to pay a sum like that.
On what foundation do you assume that? Seems you don't have much experience with custom software development. And it seems I am not the only one assuming cost in the ballpark I mentioned, rather I was on the more conservative side:I doubt would be that high. Are you building a Tesla here or what ?
Any community looking to make an iOS and Android native app will be looking at a minimum of mid 5 figures if they went with a developer/agency on the cheaper side. For something good, that is not just a standard webview wrapper, six figures is much more likely.
Sure, the best developers do work for free and still deliver perfect results in a timely manner and amazing support including updates for the next decades. Who want's to paid for work in today's world? This approach is so yesterday. I assume, you refuse getting paid by your employer as well and work for the honor only...I actually been approached by a developer that wanted to offer an app solution for free, which I have agreed, similar to Reddit.
maybe @Slavik was right when he didn't bother making a Xenforo app in 2011.
Ain't argue here with a troll mate.
