I am testing ssl . But i am having problems with image proxy and ssl. Here is the problem.

If i enable the checkbox in the admin settings called "proxy images"

when someone visits a thread and there is images in it. I sometimes, but not always get this icon

Screen%20Shot%202015-07-29%20at%2010.04.55%20AM.png

what's weird is, if i refresh, then the icon disappears and i can see real image. Refreshing doesn't always work.

But i am often seeing this image.

If i disable the checkout "proxy images" then i don't have any problem. All the images show up.

Here is an example of the type of bb code that some users post

Code:
 [URL='http://oi64.tinypic.com/200bihl.jpg/'][IMG]http://i64.tinypic.com/200bihl.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

i want to use the proxy images so ssl works. without it. it lock wont be green.

I use ssl with cloudflare. It seems to be working except for the image proxy problem.

i tried to search the forum here, and i found mike say something about updating the servers root certificate? maybe thats my problem?
https://xenforo.com/community/threads/xenforo-image-proxy-doesnt-work-with-some-images.102323/

how do i go about doing that, whm? cpanel? or maybe someone has better advice.

most of the images are really big, so these are my settings

111.webp

help!

thanks,

You can't change the download time limit. If URLs are failing, you should use the image proxy test in the control panel to get some more details.

Here is an example of an image:

http://www.imagebam.com/image/93289b506765011

if i put it in the test image proxy here is what it says:

proxy.webp
maybe you can try to put that link in the image proxy also,

when i first went to the thread with this picture it didn't show up, instead i seen an x, i had to refresh in order for it to show up.

i tired other image hosting sites and sometimes it happens with other websites also,

As the error suggests, that link isn't recognised as a valid image.

The actual URL of the image is:
Code:
http://115.imagebam.com/download/ANedeMUfM9zEmuG-OR6PFg/50677/506765011/pet_animal_dog.jpg

yes, but if i post 100 bb codes of pictures from that website, why would 80 work fine and the rest 20 not work, and if i refresh several times finally the 20 pictures would work.

its strange,

anyways i'm finished with ssl, theres not much benefit to using it, its more headaches then anything and im not selling anything on my forum , i gave it a shot but the conclusion is ssl is not worth it, and average users don't care or even understand ssl

its mostly google trying to push webmasters into using it,

and many huge websites still dont even use ssl,

its not worth it, i'll wait several more years
