XenForo Enhanced Search for XF 1.5.21 will work on Elastic Search 7.x on AWS?

We're going to install XF ES search plugin. We're on AWS EC2 and will buy AWS Elastic Search Service (I've checked it supports HTTP, so should work with XF ES).

Just wondering what's the best version of Elastic Search we should use while create the instance on AWS?

I've checked that the recent version is Elasticsearch 7.4, is it recommended to use with XF ES plugin for XF 1.5?

The last release of ES for XF1 was in November 2017.

It works with elasticsearch 6 but I'm not sure if it's compatible with elasticsearch 7 (probably not).

XF1 isn't compatible with a new ElasticSearch 7 index, it kinda works if the ElasticSearch 7 index is in compatibility mode (ie upgraded from ES6).

With XF1, your best compatibility bet is ES5

You can use ES 6 without problems with XF1. I would not install and use ES 7.
