[XB] Post Comments 2.0.3

No permission to download
@Ozzy47 So I just noticed that there's a way, after disabling the plug-in, that you can run something in Tools and it will take all the comments and repurpose them as regular replies within the thread by posting date. Has anyone ever done this? I'm not exactly sure to check how many comments we have, but, I'm guessing 30-50,000. I wonder if this many would be feasible?

I only ask because I know it is a free add-on and not high on the priority list, but, I haven't updated Xenforo software in multiple years, and I'm afraid of falling too far behind. Eliminating this add-on would allow me to update.

Anyone?

You want to disable ALL add-ons before upgrading anyway. And to my knowledge this product is still compatible with the new versions of xenforo.

@Painbaker What is the addon`s behaviour if I delete the addon in the future? Will it turn post comments into quotes, or will we lose them?
If I remember the original version I tried, all this really does is reformat typical thread replies into what look like comments. So I think they will just turn back into a standard thread. @Painbaker could clarify that or, if I get a chance, I'll try it on my test forum and see what it does.

They do. However you may lose some flow of the thread because the replies are divorced from the post they are replying to. Without the comment system people would use quotes but quotes are not necessary with comments so in many cases the reply could just be orphaned once reverted to the normal structure.

I think VS forums have a system whereby the user can have “nested view” and then when they disable via their preferences, the post replied to automatically becomes a quote.

That would be ideal. I did pay for some custom development of the addon for my own forum and @Painbaker did some great work. If I could have afforded any more I would have asked for that feature if it was possible.

I wouldn't mind helping to fund something that worked similarly to how VS has things... I wonder how vBulletin managed this years ago. You could have either layout - whichever you preferred. Perhaps multi quoting makes this more difficult.
