www or non-www for your forum?

Try to actually understand this topic correlate with my post next time you make an assumption ok?
This topic was about using www or without www which is used on server to internet browser, So i suggested removing http as you browse the site
either on server level or on browser http where it should be removed(hidden) which serves no purpose afterall.
http on browsers only serve as cosmetic purpose
At first I thought your reply #21 was a tolling post but you are being serious?
The http:// is a crucial part of the internet as we know it, there is no way to remove it and the internet wouldn't exist without it.
I know very well what this topic is about, you're the one that went off topic with a silly request.
I may have just started posting at xF but I assure you I've been around for a while and generally know what I'm talking about.

I think what maidos is saying that the http:// isn't necessary to be used in a URL or a browser because it would be implied. Meaning I shouldn't have to type http://xenforo.com but just xenforo.com because it's obvious that I want this to be http. He's not talking about removing the protocol itself, simply the mentioning of the protocol when going to a web address.

I can type xenforo.com into my browser and it redirects to the viewable URL so I guess I'm still missing the point?

. I didn't use it before but since I started to use CloudFlare I use it so I benefit from it. I don't see a problem with using www.

Not like anyone is going to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome typing in www;-) And pretty easy to do a redirect.

Advantages to not using www:
- shorter URL
Advantages to using www:
- public perception (many seem to not understand a "www" is not required)
- consistency with the largest sites on the internet (Google, Facebook, etc)
- many editors will auto-create a link for an address with a "www." whereas non-www addresses would require "http://" added, so the URL for non-www addresses actually become longer in comparison
In the end, it does not matter and is personal preference. The most important thing is consistency.

My football team's website needs it or it won't load, which is annoying.
I've never heard of "class B no-www compliance" but I did find this interesting.
