Why user signatures are not enclosed into <noindex> tag?

Hello.

A small question. Wouldn't it be good for SEO to put all irrelevant content like user signatures on forum into <noindex> tags? Currently it seems, that they are in the <aside> block which is indexed by spiders.

I always thought noindex was a meta tag that refers to a whole page?

It's not a valid tag, though I found one reference to Yandex using it.

It's mostly a moot point though as, by default, signatures aren't shown to guests.
