XF 2.3 Why no default icons showing in my forums?

Just upgraded to 2.3.0 and now no default icons showing in my forums? Any idea?

Most likely your theme or an addon that isn't compatible to 2.3.

I installed XF 2.3 beta 1 and none of the font awesome images are showing. This is for both the front end and admin control panel.

Tried with no add-ons and default style.

I am facing the same issue after upgrading to 2.3.0. Is there any definitive solution?

You can try rebuilding the icon usage via Control panel > Rebuild caches. It may surface an error in the server error log to help figure out why the sprite sheet hasn't been written.

in that thread, it said FIXED in Beta 2... but it is still not fixed in 2.3.0 Gold... Is there any definite solution?

The specific issue being reported in that thread was fixed. If you're still having issues, it's going to have a different cause. I'm more than happy to help you troubleshoot the cause but, given we haven't had any further reports of this, I'm not sure it's a bug.

The sprite sheets are generated and stored in data/local/icons/, but they appear to 404 on your installation. Do you have any custom mounts or data directories configured? In any case, you may open a ticket with server and XenForo credentials if you like and I will take a closer look.

Just a note for others, we tracked this down to server permission issues preventing the web server from serving the icon sprites.
