You walk into your favorite fish monger, hoping to get a piece of wild pacific sockeye salmon. He shows you the salmon fillet. It looks fresh and smells like fish. What do you do?

You walk away. The fish is bad. Fish shouldn't smell like fish. Fresh fish should smell like nothing.

Likewise, a well groomed, hygenic person should smell like nothing. Nothing wrong with a little perfum on a lady -very little. But guys, if I can smell your Axe Body Spray 20 feet way, I'm wondering what stink you're trying to cover up.

And for the love of all that is good and decent in the world, don't be the guy who perfumes the "engine room".

I thought y'all would get a kick out of this...
My wife and I are driving from Dallas to Austin to visit our youngest on campus (in truth, I was hijacked because they were trying to convince me to let her live in an apartment off-campus), when the discussion got to men who wear too much colone - keeping in mind my wife is an ER nurse at Children's Medical Center in Dallas and sees this trigger asthma attacks.
So I mentioned what I wrote here - men should smell like nothing. She laughed.
I asked her what was so funny.
"You really believe that, don't you?"
"Yes, of course. I don't wear any man perfume!"
"Sweetheart", she said, "sometimes you are the most clueless man on the planet."
"Oh? How so?"
"Do you ever both to smell your soap? Does it smell like nothing?"
"I guess not."
"Do you ever wonder why I buy the band I do or why I change them sometimes?"
"No, not really. I figure its price or coupons or something."
"You poor, silly man! I buy the ones that I like the smell of, and I change them when I get bored with them. Sweetheart, for the last 25 years, you have smelled how I have decided you should smell!"
Blew my whole theory all to hell, not to mention a major hit to my ego.
As Paul Harvey used to say, now we know the rest of the story.

My Dad still uses Old Spice and I still love the smell.

I like my husband in Escape for Men by Calvin Klein and Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche.
My husband actually picked out Escape by Calvin Klein for me years ago. If I had to have only one bottle of cologne, that would be it.
