XF 2.0 Whats New specific to a category or forum

Can anyone advise if it is possible to create a Whats New tab that only shows the new (unread) posts in a specific category of forums or group of individual forums?...thanks

Sorry to necro-bump this, but I have the same question. Also saw it here. But no answer yet that I found.

Does anyone know if there's a built-in way to call "What's New" per category, or would this require custom development?
