What is the downside to SSO / Connected Accounts?

The positives of Single Sign On (SSO) / Connected Accounts are obvious. Are there any downsides? If so, what are they?

Mainly having to set up an app, and then make sure your app is updated when the social media provider changes the way it's doing stuff.

In short: Like anything you add, there's an occasional maintenance cost in terms of time.

I don't really mind that stuff so much.

Maybe I should have asked: Are there any advantages to having a user sign up via email as opposed to an instant signup using a Google or Apple account (for example)?

Are there any disadvantages to having a user sign up using SSO as opposed to email?

You get a lot of unknown idiots joining your forums who troll it and ruin it just like social media.
A forum is not social media.
