He sent a suspicious .gif image to my PM.
Why did he send it?

so from the image, it looks like he copy pasted some content in visual mode from another website which included some of the images that probably did not copy over properly for whatever reason. copying content from the web can result in a messy result in a xenforo post.

i mean the image also has broken table bbcode tags. it's likely the image itself was either a tracking image or a space filler image from wherever it was copied.

images can be IP address trackers. You send a unique .gif and then you see the IP it loads to.
Now you know the IP of the person.
Ban the IP.

You can also use it to see how many of your emails are read. by the number of external image loads.

You might want to use @Xon's sign up and abuse addon and standard library addon to stop people doing this.
