What is a 'Link Forum' and 'page' when I am creating forums and sub-forums

Can anyone explain to me what these are and what functions they have?

Link forum: A link to an external website. You set the name of the link forum and set the url it redirects to.

Page: Allows you to create a page which you can display content in HTML. You can set the page name, route of the page (e.g. url.com/pages/yourpage) and in page options you would put your html.
