I've noticed latley lots of invite sites have been popping up. Examples http://lovedsgn.com/ | http://dribbble.com/

What I'm wondering is there any starter software to get on the road to site's like those.

So what I'm asking is what are they using basically; Example wordpress

Both of those sites looks like someone bought or designed a template, threw up a webpage, and added affiliate links.
They might be WP or some other blog, but they look like webpage templates to me.

Glad we saw the same thing; I was thinking they were WP but they just don't seem to be.

Gotta to say the first one looks like a faceborg page, ergo I hated it immediatly and blamed the current Korean crisis on it.

Dribble is created by two famous designers/developers, and is completely custom.

LoveDsgn I'm not sure, but it seems like it.

Definitely custom. Great websites, great ideas. The whole web should have designers like the ones featured on these websites.
