Users that register but don’t confirm their emails

What strategies do you use to handle users who register but don’t complete their email verification? How do you prevent this from happening and ensure users complete the verification process? I get so many of those and they remain in limbo.

The most common answer would be either spam or disposable email addresses. Give them 30 days and then delete them.

Anyone that doesn't confirm within 24HR, the accounts get wiped. There's no reason to keep the records if they don't plan on confirming the account. (But, we are also using a mod that blocks the content if your account is still awaiting confirmation, so they can't see any part of the site until the email is confirmed anyway...)
