XF 1.1 User can see Node but no Threads etc (private)

I just change Permission for one of my Nodes so a user can see the Nodes but no content

By changing the rights, also the discussion and message counter disappeared.
Is there a way to show them if a user/-group cant read the Threads?

I just tried to implement this with a template edit, but the counts are not available when permissions are lacking. An addon is required.
