XF 1.3 Uploading GIF avatar results in server timeout

I'm trying to use animated avatars. So I installed the imagick extension and changed the default image library in the forum configuration. Now uploading a small GIF file (less than 30 KB) results in an execution timeout:

Can't imagine it takes more than 30 seconds to process an 30 KB GIF file so I'm pretty convinced it's a server issue. Thoughts?

The amount of work would be related to the number of frames rather than the size of the file. If it's a long GIF, that would explain it.

Doesn't mean there isn't necessarily an issue with imagick/ImageMagick though. You could try using different versions of each.

That's new to me, thanks.

In that case there's probably nothing we can do to prevent users from uploading 'a long GIF' (and we are not going to increase the timeout), so it's better to not offer animated avatars in the first place.
