XF 2.3 Upgrading to 2.3.13 caused bbcode to break in a particular thread

Prior to the upgrade this thread was fine. After the upgrade, some posts by a particular user in the thread have varying degrees of broken bbcode's one example is:

brokenbbcode.webp

It looks like it's duplicating code?

Any idea why this would happen and what the solution is? My current plan is to re-run the upgrade process tomorrow. Is there anything else I should try? Is there any rebuild process that might fix this?

The weird part is, it's only one particular users posts and only certain sections of their posts that have messed up bbcode. Everyone else looks to be fine.

I'm not clear on why the minor upgrade would cause this issue, I'm assuming something just went wrong during the upgrade process, but my question is... is there a way to fix it that DOESN'T involve manually fixing this users posts in that thread?

Nothing went wrong exactly, we just limit the render-depth of BBCode for security and performance reasons. These posts have some extreme nesting. The posts can be edited to remove them.

Okay thanks. A lot of that nesting looks like it's duplicating code. I just want to make you aware (even though it's probably not relevant today), when I was researching the issue before making a post about it I found an old forum running Xenforo software that talked about the issue. The post was from 2015, so I don't imagine it holds any validity to Xenforo's software today, but, they mentioned editing a post multiple times in a row can cause BBCode duplication. Their solution was to use the BBCode editor rather than the rich text editor when stylizing their post to that degree.

Again, thank you for the heads up. It's good to know I didn't mess anything up and that this is intended behavior.

Edit: someone informed me it could also be from copy and pasting from posts repeatedly.
