XF 1.4 Upgrading from 1.4.3

I bought XF 5 years ago and am re-using the software. It is currently 1.4.3 and I want to update it to the latest version. Is there anything I should do aside from the regular updating process given it's a huge jump?

To clarify, any styles, add-ons, template modifications, etc. that are currently in use, will not work with XF2.

We're using a heavily modified Tactical theme for XF1. They have an XF2 version, too. Would there be any way to retain our modifications when upgrading both the software and theme?

No - the templates are completely different.

You would need to make a note of any changes you have made in XF1 then reapply them to XF2 (if they still apply).
