XF 2.3 Upgrade vs Full?

When upgrading from Xenforo 1 to Xenforo 2, is it better to download the full package or the upgrade package? I know you typically download the upgrade package for an upgrade and the full package for a new installation. But I wasn't sure about going from Xenforo 1 to Xenforo 2 since it is such a major upgrade. What is the exact difference between the two packages?

run the upgrade.

full will create a db, new config file, and all that instead of alter'ing the tables that exist.

No, it won't.
The only difference between the full and upgrade archives is the upgrade archive does not include the following files and directories:
.htaccess
data
internal_data

When upgrading from Xenforo 1 to Xenforo 2, is it better to download the full package or the upgrade package?

ALWAYS use the upgrade archive for upgrading, regardless of the version going from and to, otherwise you stand the risk of wiping out the files and directories listed above.
