Upgrade Question/Problem

I am a long time user of vB and have version 3.8.4 in use and like Xenforo and think this is an upgrade I'd like to do but my question is how. With my version of vB being so old I have PHP 4.4.9 installed, for Xenforo I need a much more recent version and to accommodate that it would break my current 3.8.4 vB until all of my tweaks are ready to go live on Xenforo.

Any ideas on how to buy and install Xenforo and get it tested with my customizations while still not bothering my existing community? We are a very large forum (9,000,000 posts and about 90,000 members).

There is a built in vB importer - see the Pre Sales FAQ in my signature.

Importing to XenForo and testing won't affect your existing vB installation.

Right, my questions is the server this is on has to have PHP at a certain level for Xenforo that exceeds what works with vB 3.8.4.

Any workaround?

Copy the database and files to another server, or you can attempt a remote import cross-server.
XenForo only needs access to the database, attachments and avatars.

I have imported from vB using just a database before, with no actual vB installation.
