XF 2.1 Updating language pack

Hi,

let's say I want to update 2 forums with a language pack that has new phrases, but some phrases must stay the same on forum 1 and on forum 2. But some phrases I'd like to update etc. It would be nice to have it like for templates so if you edit phrases you found them in outdated phrases when importing new language. Then you can choose whether you merge them or use parent or custom version.

If I import the language pack and overwrite it then, of course, it overwrites all phrases.

What is the best way to deal with it?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'd have to create a child language that has the modifications you need, importing the "base" translation into the parent. (Only caveat is that out of the box, we don't have user selectability limits for languages, so that would expose both languages directly.)

I already tried that, but it's not what I want.

I guess for updating the language from XF 2.0 to XF 2.1 will be better to export language (with untranslated strings) and compare files, edit what needs to be edited, then upload new version to forum again.

It's hard to maintain different versions of same language. For example, I can translate Resources for 3 forums in 3 different ways, depends why I need it. That means, I need to translate word Resources for many phrases (for emails, notifications etc.)
