Unpublished Threads

Unpublished threads are, functionally, very similar to moderated threads. The idea is that threads that are unpublished are hidden from view with the reason that they are unfinished or otherwise not yet ready for publication.

A few notes:

• A set of radio buttons should be available in the Thread options when creating or editing a thread:
  • Unpublished (hidden)
    • Publish on [Date Field]
    • Do not automatically publish
  • Published (visible)
• Unpublished threads should not be flagged in the moderation queue.
• Forum options should be added to set the default state of the published/unpublished selection. For example, if an Articles forum is acting like a blog, the admin may desire to set up blog posts to be unpublished and publish automatically after 24 hours as a default. These options are still able to be overridden at the time of posting or by editing a thread.
• Permissions:
  • Allow to post as unpublished
    • Determines whether the publishing options are visible in the thread options
  • See unpublished threads by others
  • Publish any thread
    • Users can always publish their own threads, but only those with this permission can publish threads by others.
