Forum Setting to Display Threads from Child forums.

It would be useful to have Forum node setting to display the threads from Child forums in the parent forum.
If this setting is active then posting a new thread would require the member to select the Forum.

And similarly, I'd like to have the same for XFRM and XFMG, so that we can display content from child categories in parent categories. This would make it easier for users to find content.

I'm aware of @Xon 's addon. I love almost all of his add-ons. As usual I think that it should be in core, including add-ons so that the functionality is available in all add-ons that follow standards.

I think the functionality should not only affect reading, but posting as well. It's very confusing to users to see Threads from a forum that they cannot post to from the same page.

Correction: I'm still on XF1 and just found out that in XF2 XFMG/XFRM does show content from subcategories.
So only forum nodes need to show content from subforums and the ability to post to those subforums.

Here's an example of a situation where it would be useful:

-- Parent forum
|-- Question forum
|-- Article forum
|-- Discussion Forum

Let's say we don't allow posting in the parent forum, but only in the child forums. And in each of the child forums we only allow one Thread Type. We still want to display a POST button in the parent forum node, but if a user clicks on it, they will need to select the appropriate forum. And if the user wants to post a question, then the only possible selection would be the Question forum.

If a user wants to post a classified thread for a Projector, then is this possible from the Parent (Home Cinema Classifieds) forum?

If the parent forum has 3 child forums, and you are posting a new thread from the parent page, you first need to select which of the 4 you want to post in (parent, or child 1/2/3). If the parent is summary only (no new thread option) then you would need to select between child 1/2/3. The parent shows, but grey'd out. I use it both ways.

Thank you for the information. I see it works awesome and will likely add it to my array of awesome add-ons by @Xon
I still would like it to be implemented in core though.
