UK to ban Forums ?

Probably right. In the UK I'd estimate it at more like 75%. You only have to look at Cameron talking on BBC News to see how much of a twit he is. Ask him a simple question and he wont answer it. You can ask it over and over, and he'll still skirt around it, all the time trying to make it sound like he's a god.

One such example this morning was him being asked why the Accident and Emergency departments at the NHS give such poor service, with long waiting times, and such. His response was that a majority of people in the UK love the high quality of service offered by the department, and how he regularly hears praise about how well its now operating under his government. Complete crap.

Because things were going so well under labor right :ROFLMAO:

They tried something similar to this in Australia and the communications minister Stephen Conroy was almost lynched for it. Once governments put these sorts of laws into place it gives them freedom to dictate what you can and can't view. Two countries come to mind when I think of this, communist China and North Korea.

I am completely against some of the nasty stuff that can be found online like child abuse and rape for example, but I don't think the answer is to start blocking this and blocking that.

Regardless of the truth of this statement(do you have any evidence?), is it not a form of wealth redistribution from the taxpayer to the business owner?

Not really, because i'm talking about foreign tourism.

The proof is there too see. Take a walk past Buckingham palace and see how many foreign people are snapping photos and buying memorabilia. (y)

But the taxpayers have to fund the royal family, so whoever is on the receiving end of the tourists' money is being subsidized by the taxpayers. Also, the picture taking and memorabilia buying cannot be shown to bring more money in than the royal family spends(not to mention the price of maintaining their living quarters/property.) This would be the same as justifying presidential expenses under the assumption that 1) it isn't a subsidy and 2) it produces a net benefit. It also seems to be very much like a city building a new stadium and claiming that the tourism produced will pay for itself, when, in most cases, it does not and completely ignoring the tax funds used to fund said stadium.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree then! :)

Nope. They are all useless.

Sorry, I don't swing for any party, simply because they will all tell you whatever you want to hear, without taking any action. For once I'd like a party to come forward and say "you know what...if you vote for us, we probably wont get much done simply because of the state of the economy. We cant reduce the deficit enough (EVER) to get the country back into the black, and we cant commit to spending extra money on anything".

I'd vote for them. We all know that the country is in irreparable debt, yet they keep ********ting their way into power.

There's a hell of a lot more to politics than "this party is better than that party".

For what its worth, I feel that Cleg is as much of a Twit, and Milliband is probably about as intelligent as his playdough clone:

I hate politics :P

Agreed.

Having said that, of the big 3, conservatives are the one which are doing the general right thing imho with the austerity.

Labor would spend us back into debt, lib dems wouldnt know what theyre doing full stop.

I also support our withdrawl from the EU.

Have you ever watched Prime Ministers Questions? Last one was rather boring, but some times it gets realy quite agressive and petty, its a good laugh: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0378z5x/Prime_Ministers_Questions_17_07_2013/
Haha, yes - its pretty funny when someone in the audience starts arguing with them.

The best one - turn on BBC Parliament about 4:30 pm on a Friday, there will be about 10-15 people (maximum), half of them will be dozing off. You can regularly see them nod off lol

He doesn't have a hope or pray... Most of his own cabinet to vote on this would lose their travel porn. Censorship won't happen IMHO... Too big a topic and issue for any government to get through outside communistic countries.

No, he wants to make people have to choose to allow access to things instead of choosing to block them. The list of items he wants it to affect (other than porn) isn't confirmed yet.

I think our PM is an idiot.

Don't most people know it? I'm starting to get fed up of my Mum going on about him...

I know our PM is an idiot. Plus Gove (can't use the language here for what I think of him) and the rest of the ConDem cronies.

/goes for a lie-down...

Eye, yup.

At least half the people in every country think their leader is an idiot.

That's probably true. There must be at least one country where this isn't the case though, right?!?!?

just came across the news today that the U.K. is about to ban "Web-Forums":

http://facelesspromotions.wordpress...et-ban-extends-to-more-than-just-pornography/

This is also being reported in german news media outlets today....

http://deutsche-wirtschafts-nachric...nternet-die-zensur-kehrt-nach-europa-zurueck/

I can't look at that site. This is due to the fact it has 'pornography' in the URL, which my step dad has blocked in the router obviously. (Which, unlike some other words in the filter, isn't stupid). Anyone give me a rundown?

Agree. My vote helped bring him in though, as I voted Lib Dem. Almost enough to scare you into not voting again!

99% of people in our country think our PM is an idiot.

Yeah, so did my Mum. According to her, our lib-dem MP would never have agreed to the coalition...

I wonder what it'll be like in the next general election... Annoyingly, I turn 18 the year after...

You'd be incredibly foolish to think for a second that 'forums' would get banned in the UK, or any civilized country. It's media hype, the same applies to the BBC rabbiting on about how Twitter and Ask.FM need to be closed down.

Whilst what has happened is terrible, its just mind numbingly shortsighted to think for a second that you just pull the plug on something like that.

I'm all for tougher regulation of social networking sites, but forums really dont fall into the same category, and never will do. People use social networks and forums in very different ways.

Parents also need to take most, if not all responsability here - most ISP's offer content filtering - turn the damn thing on if you have kids. Refuse to allow your kids to have a private area on the computer, etc. Blocking or closing things for those of us who use common sense is crazy, and will never happen.

Yeah, I find it very hard to believe they would do such a thing...

Right, this post has enough quotes in it now... *clicks Post Reply*.
