Two forum accounts on XenForo.com allowed?

Are we allowed to have two accounts on XF?

I'd like to keep this one for support, but then have one associated with my forums that I can showcase them under etc.

Reason being, we have quite a lot of competitors and even had some issues being DDOS'd last year, and I'd just rather not ask questions under my actual forum related account where a competitor (or possible attacker) could see I have vulnerabilities from time to time and perhaps start the attack again when they know I'm busy doing something, like porting a big forum over from VB or whatever.

Wondering what the score is on that front.

The only time 2 forum accounts is allowed for 1 person is as a company representative (such as addon authors).

Otherwise, no, 1 per person.

In your case no, im afraid not. We discourage the use of second accounts in general.

I believe if a company is developing addons then that company can post addons under a company name while still socialising and conversing under his/her own username. Not quite the same concept.

Think of how XenForo username announces updates but XenForo staff still post under their own personal aliases.

I have seen some deleted accounts here like ragtek and Floris. If it was possible for them then it should be possible for anyone. Btw in your Terms of Service and Rules it says: "If you wish to close your account, please contact us."

And finally and most important, if it is *your customer* looking for privacy then you should do your best to assist him.

Neither of those accounts are deleted.

Nope. They simply have their profiles set to private.

Regardless, please don't give advice in which you do not know the procedures we use. It isn't the first time you have given such advice which has been incorrect or something we would not do.

Mainly to do with management, lets say we warn 1 account for spamming, do the staff then have to waste time hunting down 2-3-4 more accounts to warn those? If not, why warn the original.

To be totally clear, both of those accounts have previously been deleted, but the accounts have since been re-registered.

I don't post anything related to my sites / URL's.

But I want to post in the showcase forum. I'm proud of my sites now I've worked on a few and got decent styles and whatnot.

So this would be the incognito account and stay that way, then the other one would have been the company branded one. But no daft questions posted under it, or questions related to problems I'm having. etc.

For my use case(s), I don't really care if my members use sock puppets or alter egos. I always thought the disallowance of multiple accounts was admin control based (which many admins like to assert -bullyish) rather than user management.

I can totally see this point now and I hadn't previously considered it.

If your concerned with privacy of your site. You could just simply put in a ticket for advise on how to proceed with a suggested solution.

This is crazy, and something I mentioned elsewhere a while back:

You're selling a software product here. People may want to buy licenses to this software using different identities, or talk about the product without using their "business" account. Or, they may be looking for support for the particular website their account is tied to.

In my case, I own a XenForo license for my own personal use, and a license for the website I am the admin for. The latter is tied to an email address that is owned by the company who owns the website domain. It's their license, so that's entirely appropriate. If I decided to move on, they should retain rights to that license.

The personal license of XenForo that I own has nothing to do with that website. It's mine. It should not be tied to an email address that I don't own. Thus, I have a second user account. Why should that be against the rules?

Under the strict rule of one user, I have the option of either buying a business license under my personal email address, which is a bad idea, or buying my personal license under a business address - equally bad. In either case, I would also be faced with the obligation to have no differentiation between a business identity on the forums, and my personal one.
