XF 1.5 Truncating {content} in registered feeds

I'd like to cut {content} off at a fixed number of words or characters. I don't want to reproduce entire articles from the blogs I'm trying to compliment, just lead-ins and links. Is there a way to add such an argument to the {content} tag under Edit Feed?

This would require custom development. We simply post what is in the feed.

Thanks, @Mike. I'll hit my feeders up for truncated versions of their own feeds, or (lacking that) they'll just have to live with full copy. Seems like everyone should be offering a user feed (full copy for readers) and a site feed (truncated lead-ins for friendly cross-promotion) -- but that's neither here nor there.
