Trouble understanding Usergroup & Node Permissions

Good morning,

I'm a little lost with the permissions setting on these. First on node permissions we have both revoke and deny. What are the difference between both?

Then on Usergroup permissions we have Default/Allow/Deny, the default one is the Default to what settings? the Node permission settings?

Essentially, Default means no or not set, Allow means yes, Deny means never.

Node permissions only need to be set if you want a specific node to have different permissions from what the user group grants.

So for example, all users can normally create threads so that would be set to Allow in the registered usergroup.
For your "Announcements" forum though you would set to that to Revoke for their user group.
