XF 2.3 Trending Content shows very old threads

ALL of our trending content in the widget is back from 2017, and the last post in the thread is 2020. Yes, the thread has 51k posts in it but it seems trending content widget is only showing the threads with the highest post count instead of latest activity as I have the widget set to Hot. Is there some kind of cache I need to reset to have it look at the Newer trending content in the last 7 days and not the highest post count?

Update:
I switched it to Top and left the "hide widget when no content is found" unchecked, then saved. It then makes the widget disappear from the main forum when its set to top, but then setting it back to hot brings it back, but shows the top posts.

Trending is definitely a work in progress.

It need a max life (or thread start date less than X days) attribute to exclude old monolithic threads, needs forum exclusion rules, needs a lot of stuff to make it usable on anything but a new forum.

I have the Duration set for 7 days and activity log length set for 30 days. So it shouldn't be pulling in things from over 5 years old.

You’re probably getting a lot of guest (bot) views on those threads. You can disable view counters for guests or disable view metrics for trending scores to remedy this.

I disabled guest counts but still showing only the old threads.

It doesn't apply retroactively, so if you're using the default widget duration 7 days it will take 7 days for the views already counted to fall out of the window.
