Hello,

i like to ask if someone have translated xenforo in any language before. Do you have any 3rd party tool used for that or have any good best practice for me? It would be great to know the challenges for that.

Has anyone tried to import/export the exported phrases via some crowd localization tool? There seems to be a few, but most are expensive.

Loco was one of the cheapest I found and seems popular with the Wordpress crowd: https://localise.biz/. It's €29,90/month for 125 000 words/phrases, and you can add 125k more for €10/month. I think it could be done in a few weeks. They also don't seem to bill annually like many others did when I checked (crowdin for example).

A way to let 2-3 people work on the translation together.

Simple.

User one: Translate phrases A - H

The language needs to be consistent, we will have to continually discuss and make changes until we're all happy with the final version.

We need a system for this. It's not as easy as splitting it up as you suggest, since consistency is key. An "easy" way to follow and improve on our progress.

It's a tiny bit like programming in a team, and we need something like github to track, handle, discuss/comment and approve/revert changes/commits.

It's quite complex to do a proper translation I'm afraid.

Indeed. Which is why we need a tool designed to specifically handle this type of challenge in the best and most efficient way, such as loco or crowdin.
