Even with small fingers and good eyes it was hard to click on the text selection button, that's one of the reason this solution was implemented on the quoteme addon and people seemed happy with it during these last 8 months. It suites more a touch device implementation where screens are smaller. Good luck with this "browser issue".

Why wouldn't you adopt the text selection method of the core instead of pressing a designated button to select a text?

I actually hate the current implementation. It's not functional and not 'xen'.
