A user on our forum recently pointed out that spammers will post exactly the same thing on multiple forums. My user sent me a screen shot of a Google search - it showed this same text, all posted at about the same time, in a dozen or more different forums on different web sites. Interestingly, the same search now doesn't find most of them because, I suspect, they've been taken down.
Is there any sort of add-on for XF that, as part of the spam-checking process, would help detect this sort of thing?
NB: I spotted that it was probably spam, and flagged the user account to be in moderation so that if something more offensive showed up, I'd have the chance to remove it and/or the account before my users viewed it, but I did elect to allow the post.
We are currently running 1.5 but have plans to upgrade to XF 2.
We are currently running an add-on called Spam Cleaner Everywhere! that I have found very helpful.
