I also ask myself that. Why having two features about the same (like, trophy). Better have the same criteria (like) and use it depending on how much you are liked, like "very much liked" etc. if that is useful at all. It's good to encourage users to interact here nicely, but make it easy to understand. the "like" criteria is good enough.

The trophy feature seems to take other criteria into consideration, in addition to likes. Seems it would encourage 'deeper' involvement with the site itself.

I think it is disabled like what you can do with features in vBulletin.

Mike mentioned that it updates via CRON jobs every 24 hours. They are considering lowering the time limit.

O wow. IMO it should do it when the person reaches the goal.

I would think every one or two hours would be more fitting... I guess you get an alert when you get one too so it would encourage involvement...

Nice feature, I hope both the cron and the criteria is customizable via the admincp though.

O wow. IMO it should do it when the person reaches the goal.

that might be too server intensive for a large site. CRON jobs are scheduled to run every x hours, minutes, etc.

possibly...I'm not certain on what code is executed and what queries are run for each trophy. Regardless, using cron allows for it to be handled in batches.

It rather reminds me of this. Use it the right way and trophies can encourage participation, even superficial.
