INFORMATION:
This addon allows you create a simple live thread that auto display new posts without require user to refresh the page.

INSTALLATION:
- Upload contents of Upload folder to root directory, overwriting any existing files.
- Install XML\addon-*******_ThreadLiveUpdate.xml file.
- Go to AdminCP -> User -> User Group Permission to set permission for each usergroups.

This works for thread lists too or only for inside thread updates?

How it behaves when new posts/pages are created ? Suppous I leave a tab open with a specific thread, as soon as its getting updated the scroll works to the new items /pages or they just appear below the page position I left?

Its a great idea ! Really nice !
 
Any chance of this having automatic functionality in the future, where a thread gets set to live when posted in and then gets disabled after X minutes of no posts?
 
Can you explain the Max Thread on Load setting.


Couple problems preventing me from using this on my production forum.

1) New replies cause the page to jump down to the new reply anytime there's a post. On a busy forum this would make it impossible to read a thread.
2) New replies show up regardless of what page of the thread you're on. This causes posts to be shown out of order.

Minor suggestion - Prevent the loading icon from showing as a result of this addon.

My suggestion for an automated function would be for this addon to become disabled for the member after they've been idle for x amount of time.

Just wanted to say "Thanks" for this add-on. We're using on a sports forum and I can't tell you how much it adds to game threads. Perfect addition for any sports forum!!
 
there are some bugs with this:

after an hour users complain they get redirected to a time out error page on cloudflare (our site runs through cloudflare)

now im not sure if there any settings i can fine tune in php.ini, xenforo, cloudflare to stop these time out errors

all i have is this in the xenforo server error logs:

ok this add one is seriously causing issues with my mysql corruption and also in rare cases causes my server to crash

my hosting had a look at the logs and this what they had to say about it:

Hello, Reviewing the Apache logs on the server when you server experienced the large spike in system load I am showing that your liveupdate feature of the forum software was being abused

Your application was unable to quickly execute a query results in follow up queries being backed up resulting in all MySQL connection slots being consumed resulting in the application reporting the 500 errors listed in the Apache log output above. I very strongly encourage you to work with your developer to ensure that the MySQL queries being ran are optimized and efficient. I would also suggest that you implement a way to prevent the liveupdate function from crashing the server.

i would highly recommend fine tuning this add one as this is eating up my server resources and mysql query slots

sonnbs Live Thread add-on is the older one (last updated 22.10.2013) so i think you should better ask sonnb for a update of the Live-Thread add-on. It cames out for xenforo 1.2 and so bevor xenforo 1.3.

by the way ... a similar add-on is out from *******, it calls also "Live-Thread" and its up to date.

Seems like there is a conflict with @borbole 's Post Comments.

*******.. it doesnt work right.. the java scrip load keeps running.. and the floating tool bar is unclicable.. also.. doesnt work with merged thread posts

I updated it.. and when i click on a thread.. it gives me this error on all of my threads:

The following error occurred:
The requested thread could not be found.
 
after updating i cannot open any thread or post anymore and cannot close the error...have to close the site and reopen it
