The Name: xenForo

Hey all,

Firstly, damn this is some amazing bulletin board software. :) But the main reason why I created this thread is to know, how did the name xenForo come about? To be honest, I'm not really too fond of the name as it sounds like a less popular branded name, compared to IPB, vBulletin, phpBB ... they're all simple and understandable.

Of course, please don't feel offended, they're just my 2 cents. :)

I have been typing XenForo all day, and I think I am going to stick to that, however, abbreviation for some reason is xf for now. Easier in informal conversations. Oh well :) We will see in 5 years.

Would you prefer people type 'XenForo' over 'xf' in casual conversation?

I suppose its the same as:
vBulletin => vB
Invision Power Board => IPB
Simple Machines Forum => SMF
etc

Personally I will be typing xf as everyone know what it means around here...would be silly to type the entire name ALLLLLL the time ;)

I cant see how any other abbreviation can exist...

It took me all of 30 seconds to like the name. It did seem a little odd at first, but like Floris said in the second post, Google sounded strange at first too (if you were around to remember when it debuted). But I could see xenForo quickly becoming a familiar and comfortable name. CBI Web likes it. :D

Personally seeing "xf" bothers me. :p Kind of like when people typed "vb" or "VB" or "Vb."
