XF 2.3 Tabbed categories?

Is there any existing add-on or modification that allows us to turn category pages into tabs at the top of every page for easier access/jumping? Similar to the tabs in this photo below, but instead there will be a tab for "All" which would be the default forum view showing everything, and a separate tab for each category linking to its category page or jumping to it on the forum list.

I tried creating an HTML widget but it does not appear to show anywhere I place it.

Not a solution to your question but rather something to have in mind: Judging from the usage of the currently existing tabs it seems that most users do not recognize them or use them. This comes to surface especially, where they are a core to navigation, i.e. in the resource manager, where you need those to switch from the resource to the discussion or add ons like Event Manager or AMS that make use of them in the same way. This kind of navigation simply does not work very well with the users, at least in my forum. Therefore I'd avoid to create even more of it but rather try to find ways to circumvent it.

My biggest challenge is I am creating a forum for my local region/communities, different categories for different regions with several forums and subforums within each. When users register, they select their area/region and they may not be interested in the other categories.

Another solution would be to remember user's choice when collapsing categories, but I don't believe this is doable from what I looked into. If a section has no interest for some members in a particular region, I wanted to give them the ability to hide that section

I think user should be able to bookmark forum categories or forums.
and they should appear first on the forum home.

so if I was mostly interested in Xeforo development discussions and Forum showcases, I could bookmark them and the forum home would look like this.



I think it would be great for sports sites, where I mostly am interested in one team and not the other 30.
I would want my team's logo to appear at the top as a "forum shortcut".

Maybe it is possible to configure an individual start page per user in the preferences via an add on. This could be the forum node for their region. Don't know if that is possible or an add-on like that exists but it seems a way. even better if you could select set this start page during registration (which should be doable per custom fields).

How I do it:

First, create a Category node and associate some forums with it (I assume you've done that)

Then: admincp > Setup > Options > Node & forum list:
- check "Create pages for categories"

Then: admincp > Setup > Public navigation > +Add Navigation

• Parent navigation entry: leave blank
• Type: Node
• Node: select your category

XF 2.2 Thread 'Tabbed experience'

Pretty generic question, but does XenForo have a standardized experience for building tabbed controls for public templates? Ideally, I'd like to use something native to XenForo vs bloat the page with bootstrap or something else. Generic Example: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/components/navs-tabs/#javascript-behavior
