Suspending new member sign ups

Hi all, I am leaving for 10 days and won't have internet access and ideally want to suspend new members from signing up during that process. Is there a way to do that?

Also, is there a way to manually approve or disapprove new members BEFORE they are able to post?

Yes and yes.

Admin CP -> Home -> Options -> User Registration

You can also setup moderation for new users, just in case some good members try to sign up.

Oh question. So if I temporarily disable the new member registration, is there a way for me to post a message to 'wanna-be-new-members' so they're not just left hanging?

create a notice and set the user criteria Privileges and Status: to User is a guest
