I'd like to suggest that in this case, the thread opens at the end. My thinking is that a user clicking on a read topic is likely to be about to reply, and is therefore most likely to need to read the most recent posts, rather than the earliest.
I'd also like to admit that half the reason I'm making this minor and humble suggestion is that I'm so impressed with xenforo I just couldn't resist playing with it a bit - great work, and it's got one very jaded admin (IPB via VB) enthused about potential new communities he can start up.
