Successful Migration of 2 Million Posts, 100k Users

Just wanted to leave some brief, positive feedback. About a week ago, my fairly large community (100k users, 2 million posts) successfully migrated from vBulletin 3.7 to XenForo. The response of my famously-negative/hateful community has been almost unanimously positive. Our staff of around 100 volunteers is amazed at how smoothly the transition occurred, not just technically but socially.

We encountered some problems during the migration. The database was a mess. We moved to vBulletin from UBB i-dunno-how-many years ago. During that migration, the owners had to rig their own transfer system, which basically forced a square peg through a round hole. For instance, we had around 3,000 users with the same e-mail address. Nevertheless, during our move to XenForo, everything seemed to transfer pretty seamlessly.

Mike was a huge, huge, huge, indispensable help throughout the process. Much of our old functionality has been replaced, though we still have a few features we're hoping to see eventually included. Also, enhanced search still won't index without timing out and we don't really know how to fix it. Nevertheless, many of the new features have wowed our users and the speed increase is substantial.

We're happy with our new home overall. Mike, give yourself a raise. Brogan, thanks for your constant support to an unqualified, non-techy like myself. Thanks, too, to the folks who developed custom plugins for us. Finally, thanks to Google, who has been my closest friend through this process. XD

If anyone's interested, the two sites are located here:

Old: http://vboards.stratics.com
New: http://community.stratics.com
I've also implemented XenForo on our sister community: http://www.tgn.tv/community

We're still looking for someone to customize an existing theme for us. Not build a new one, but alter an existing one with to some specifications. We also have a couple plugins we'd like developed or modified. Contact me if you're interested: syrus@stratics.com.

Thanks, folks.

Congrats on the upgrade!

One thing you might want to think of, I saw your notice about signatures. I got an addon from here called Signature Once that limits the amount of signatures on a page. That might help you out a bit.
