XF 2.0 Styling Xf1 vs Xf2

Xf Devs,
I don't know if I'm not understanding the styling aspects of XF2 very well yet but it seems to me that on some things you may have made it so admins have to go to each template to modify things via HTML or css, rather than go through simple click styling properties like XF1. For instance, styling node icons, padding margins... Some people don't know CSS and just want to point and click. My first impression of XF2 style properties is that it was developed for coders, designers etc... not the average Joe. Sorry if this offends but that is what I'm getting. XF 1 Styling may have had some issues but it was fairly user friendly for inexperienced folks.

I really hope I'm wrong.
