As designed Style Variation Button Second Click Behavior

On the first click, the dropdown menu appears as expected, allowing users to choose between light and dark style variations.
However, on the second click, instead of closing the dropdown menu, it redirects me to the Style Variation Change page.
This behavior might be confusing from a user experience perspective, as I would expect the second click to close the menu. Is this behavior intentional or a bug?

If this is not a bug, implementing a "toggle" behavior (open/close) for the button might improve the user experience.

I have noticed this also.

That’s actually how menus have always worked since 2.0.

You can replicate it with many others. For example if you click the Inbox icon twice or the Alerts icon twice, or the account menu.

It’s somewhat of a deliberate gesture that allows you to go to the full version of the page.

Per Chris's comment above, this is intentional and consistent with the behavior of other menus. You can close the menu by clicking or tapping outside of the menu.
