I have never heard of software like that. Don't browsers like IE have an option for lo-fi browsing? I think Firefox does too.

Unless you have a sight impairment or know of someone who has, you're probably unlikely to have heard of screen readers such as JAWS. Tweaking browser settings isn't sufficient.

I'll try to find it, but I made a more accessible version of XenForo 1.5 for a community that was predominantly sight impaired/blind.
If I ever have free time again I can see about making one for XF2.1/2.2 as it should be a bit easier to do some of what I did previously.

What's wrong with that question? So many things are on the internet now. If we can make software in a way that it can be more easily accessible then why not?

Most people don't realize how difficult it is to use a web page for a blind or partially blind person. A lot of what is done for screen readers is not apparent or obvious to a normal browser, so they're never even going to realize if a page is accessible or not.

Right. I just need something that is really basic like having just the page content followed by simple navigation. There's a lot of kind of extra stuff in the way on the normal templates. For example if you look at this thread in Firefox's reader view the words "Add a bookmark" appear in between every post in the thread.

Yes, me too. I have users who are visually impaired and a simplified style could help them.

Nine years, crikey. You'd think with all the third party support that XF has someone would have done this by now. I can understand the kind of minimalist style you're after and it's a really laudable aim to help the partially sighted or blind. I've met a few in recent years and it's a really horrible disability that robs one of a great deal of quality of life.
@Russ of PixelExit, do you have anything like this, or could you design a bespoke theme for @StarArmy perhaps?

EDIT: I read more of the topic. Got it now! You want a plain text style with a simple nav. I do have an addon that I started that would read topics. But it has a bit more to it then that. And I have not tested it in full yet the way the addon is built. I could try to take the Text-to-Speech out of it and see if that will work for you. The way it is setup now, it will read what is in the post. And you have to hit R or hit the image within the post for it to start to read. Of course this would have to be changed for it to work the way you want it.
