Wow, I wish I needed this! Makes me want to start a financial forum!

You don't need a financial forum to use this, really. Its just like any other forum game/entertainment. Just like I am using Sportsbook for a TV show only, without any "sports" games. If your members want entertainment, and don't want to do the arcade, this is the type of addition that could have them at least checking in once a day to see their stocks...

You have a confirmed account at the add-on site, correct?

Nevermind, I see you do.

Bob should be back shortly....

D'oh! I need to update to XF 1.1.2 to use it. I've been putting it off because I hadn't needed to. Guess I do now.

You might be able to run it just fine on 1.1 just edit install.php and comment out the 1.1.2 check in the build method.

Loaded it and I'm using our own currency (HalBucks), which uses [bd] Banking. When I tried to reset everyone's account it did nothing. Is there anything else I need to do?

Oh, and by the way, I fricking love this already. If I can't reset I really don't care. I'll just go on with my own HalBucks.

The "Cash Management" tools only work with internal Stock Trader Cash itself. You can tell bd bank to use the stocktrader_cash field tho which lets you then use both systems tools to manage cash ;) (in box stewart1champ to explain).

cash.webp

Yes, forgot about that option as well. Doing that will give you the ability to do what I stated above, as far as managing member's cash amounts, while still keeping the name of your currency.

Would it be possible to use other sources to feed the system, than the stock markets?Or, alternatively, would it be possible somehow altering the display names of selected stocks?

Not sure yet how I'll do that, but it would be awesome if that's possible.

Using alternate data feeds/sources would require extensive modification unless you can find a data source with the same exact fields and data types (or write field mapping to match the current API). Its built around yahoo finance API.

Most of the stock names that you see displayed are pulled in real time from the data feed. I only store stock names on purchase and its only used on the portfolio pages. You can change the name, but then when you did a lookup, AJAX would chance it from the data retrieved by the realtime quote.
