XF 1.5 SSL support in config for database connection?

As fallback because of my AWS RDS problems I prepare my own server to be the database server for the Xenforo, which stays on AWS EC2. So the database connection leaves network and communicates with an external server. Both are in the same city though, but in different data centers.

How do I turn on SSL encryption in Xenforo config, please? mySQL is prepared with certs for that.

This isn't something that's exposed/supported in the database adapter (in XF1 or 2).
