XF 2.0 Spam Cleaner: Custom Banned Usergroup

Our Spambot Patrol needs help with figuring out the new process, moving from VB to XF.

When a spambot is cleaned with the spam cleaner, we have it set to send all of the posts by the spambot, to our spambot forum.

In VB, we had it setup to where it would also send those users to our Spambots usergroup.

Is that possible and if so, how?

You should be able to achieve this.
Make sure you have the "Spam cleaner default options" set to "Ban spammer".

XenForo has no banned group by default. There's little outward indication of this to an average user. If you want a user to be added to a group when banned, you need to configure the "Add User Group on Ban" (and configure the banned group styling as necessary).

I believe this will do what you want.

This would add every banned person to that group on ban (and maybe if you rebuild group permissions, not sure about that).
So my recommendation would be to either create a custom user field which moderators can fill out, like "Is spambot?" or change the username to a prefix like "spambot_".

Yeah it would add every banned member to that group, so there is that drawback.

@420 have a look at my (free) Ban groups add-on. It lets you apply different groups for a user permabanned, temp banned and spam cleaned.

We definitely need to keep spambots, spammers and trolls separate for future attack investigations, etc.
