XF 2.1 Spam clean

Hello,

We receive an tremendous amount of spam, I have noticed the spam clean does not ban IPs of spammers, is there an addon so IPs can also banned?

Is there a reason why XenForo did not include this?

Is it from Guests or Registered Members?

There are several ways to tackle this, from:
1. Using Spam Phrases: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/preventing-link-dropping-if-under-10-posts.180503/
2. Using addons such as "Signup Abuse Detection" by Xon" https://xenforo.com/community/threads/signup-abuse-detection-and-blocking-paid.156501/

Have a think about your environment, whats attracting spammers, if they are human or bot spammers, and how you can strangle them without impacting your legitimate users too much/at all.

Banning IPs is useless--they will simply use one of another thousand IPs they have control of to send spam. It's as ineffective as banning emails, although we do ban entire TLDs. (We do not waste time banning individual email addresses.)

Set correctly, little if any spam will get through.

Same here... if we notice questionable activity from overseas, we just ban the entire CIDR range. That in addition to Wordfence blocking any traffic from high risk countries (as we only serve local users anyway).

On one of my smaller servers, I actually use a set of rules for IPTables (using IPSet) generated to block dozens of countries right in the firewall. It doesn't take care of everything, but it does lessen the server load, since fail2ban is not triggered anywhere near as often.
