SOPA & PIPA -- Passed (CISPA)

Anyone remember every major website, blog, and just about a vast majority of Internet users protesting both SOPA (Stop online piracy act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act)? And does anyone remember congress saying they'll not pass it "at this time"?

Guess what.

Both bills were rolled into 1 single bill known as Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) and this version makes SOPA and PIPA look like child's play; as it also includes unlimited spying without any warrant.

The law grants The American Government unlimited control over the whole world-wide web, even other countries since VeriSign and ICANN control the full IP range on The Internet. And this seeks to enforce any country accessing The Internet to submit to the will of The United States Government (refusal means having that countries IP addresses suspended or terminated)

President Barack Obama's administration indicated on April 25 that it would veto the bill in its present form. The White House issued a statement, saying that the bill did "not contain adequate oversight or accountability measures necessary to ensure that the data is used only for appropriate purposes."[24][25]

That's the spirit, ..

Is that the same Obama that said they'd be doing x in y time and now we know you can add ^infinite as a timeframe behind it?

Yup, that's the one.

The first rule of politics is never believe a politician... at best they're liars and cheats and when they're not kissing babies they're stealing they're lollipops.

Don't really care anymore, plus if you read more into stuff you would know Obama said he is veto'ing the bill.
He said he would veto NDAA also if I recall. Look how well that turned out?

Obama (including Romney) says exactly what we want to hear or need to hear, just so we will feel safe and not worry or care. Then behind closed doors, when we're distracted, say New Years Eve for example (NDAA), something else happens.

Your faith is misplaced.

From what I read, it's not as annoying as SOPA. You can tell from this sentence ' In addition, there will now be penalties if private companies or the government uses data from CISPA for purposes "unrelated to cyberthreats." '

Because Wikipedia is always up to date and accurate. And Congress never lies.

(I'm of course being sarcastic)

And attitudes like this will end up getting all these bills passed.

Even signing up for a petition site like http://demandprogress.org/ will help, though actively showing support through other means is a better solution.

As far Obama vetoing the bill, that'll only do so much, as they'll just make minor changes to get support while the majority of the bill stays the same.

fyi, this isn't the sopa and pipa bills rolled into one

Yeah, it's worse.

I do sign up to those sites, just don't really care about the big dramatic posts about it anymore.
