You would have to look in the database, in the xengallery_media table for items with a media_state of deleted.

Is there a way to quickly find all soft deleted media so I can hard delete items to regain disk space?
Has this been addressed yet without having to mess directly with the database? I have a bunch of soft deleted media wasting disk space which can't be viewed anyway. There is no point in having it around.

There should be a setting that allows the user to hard delete their images in the media gallery.

No changes to report here.

You can identify soft deleted media in the gallery if you have permission to view it and then hard delete them using inline moderation.

How can I identify the soft deleted media without having to sort through 500+ pages?

Well, you have to go through it page by page, but to make it easier you could increase the number per page to a higher amount in options. The faded items are the ones that are deleted. Inline moderation works over multiple pages.

Still a bit of manual work but do-able and worth it if the disk space usage is that significant.
