So, the post is a "post" or a "message"?

Hey!
Now, according to XenForo, you are reading my message. XF uses this word in many parts of the forum, but if you click "Search -> Useful Searches" you will see "Your posts" which redirects to your... messages? Am I right? I am confused now.

Well it's a good question.

Effectively you have a container (a post or a conversation) and that container then contains a message.

So "post" is correct in the context of a forum message.

And what Brogan said :)

In my opinion, it should be constantly done. A "post" or a "message". Mostly in every other forum software they do so and they use "post".

Other terms one needs to get familiar with:

Threads = Discussions
Forums = Nodes
Private Message = Conversations = Private Conversations

Well, I use posts for posts in a thread and message for messages in Conversations, User Profiles and User status.

I prefer the term Personal Conversations, as it's not truly "Private".
Dang... ninja'd by Clickfinity!

Perhaps the hardest part when switching to XF. Though Nodes is no synonyme for forums, but a parent term for forums, categories, pages and links. In my opinion, using nodes just with the 4 types we have currently is not justified. I wonder if there will ever be other node types.
