How often XenForo send sitemap to search engines as default frequency?

I doubt it would make much difference either way.

Google doesn't even need a sitemap. It is more than capable of spidering and indexing sites without one.

It would certainly help if we could update the frequency so that Google could pick up new threads more quickly.

Could you please advise if it's possible to change the frequency, ie, to one day instead of three?

^ i think you can change cron that rebuild sitemap , and make it rebuild dayly

Cheers - found the settings in /admin.php?cron/sitemap/edit

Have changed settings to:

Run on type of day: Day of the Month: ANY

Run at hours: 12 (noon)

Run at minutes:: 0

which hopefully means that it'll update each day at noon. If I've got that wrong, please correct me.

That's correct.

Be aware that all cron tasks will be reset when you upgrade, so you will need to change it again.
